The Royal Hallamshire Hospital Sheffield installed with the Xtag Medical baby tagging system to protect new-borns at Sheffield Jessops wing maternity hospital. The Jessop Wing maternity unit (opened in 2001) is the home of approximately 7,000 births every year.
The facilities are purpose built, with a 22-bed labour ward, to meet the needs of both the standard birth experiences and specialist services alike (such as the High Dependency Unit). This large maternity unit has specialist services in a variety of areas: Antenatal Screening, Perinatal mental health, Substance misuse, Teenage pregnancy and Vulnerable women. The complex needs of this busy maternity unit require a high-performing and reliable security system for its vulnerable newborns.
After going out to international tender, Xtag Medical once again exceeded the competition on its complete package of quality, security, price and service.
"XTag have been fantastic from the minute we chose them at tender to installation and training staff. They attended meetings and communicated very well with clinical, security, estates and IT teams at the hospital. Their work was to a high standard and they were almost invisible in the clinical area which continued working. I would recommend them to other hospitals" Marcia L Gill, Matron, Labour, Birth and AOCU
