In 2024, the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust selected Xtag Medical to enhance the security of the Trust's two major maternity hospitals: Leicester General Hospital and Leicester Royal Infirmary. Client Background

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is a leading healthcare provider in Leicester, known for its commitment to excellence in patient care. Leicester General Infirmary (LGI) and Leicester Royal Infirmary are two large-scale hospitals which provide maternity services for women. The Trust’s commitment to patient safety and security necessitated a cutting-edge solution to safeguard new-borns within their care.

The Challenge

The Trust faced several key challenges in securing their maternity unit:

Implementing a robust and reliable security system to manage an average of 10,000+ births per annum.
Ensuring seamless integration with the existing infrastructure of the two hospitals.
Minimising disruption to hospital operations during installation and use.
Providing continuous support and maintenance to ensure system reliability and effectiveness.

Introducing the system across both of our maternity units has been one of the most important steps we’ve taken to strengthen infant safeguarding within our Trust. From the outset, the installation was smooth, and the training provided by Xtag Medical’s team ensured our midwives felt confident using the system straight away.
